Who we are

Joseph S. Biehl, Founder and Executive Director

Dr. Biehl earned a B.A. in philosophy from St. John’s University and a Ph.D. from the Graduate School and University Center, CUNY.  He has taught philosophy in New York and in Cork, Ireland.  He is a member of the Governing Board and former co-director of the Felician Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs.

Stefan Bernard Baumrin

Dr. Baumrin is a Professor of Philosophy at the Graduate School and University Center, CUNY.  He is Vice-President and Managing Director of the CUNY Academy of the Arts and Sciences.

Stephen R. Grimm

Dr. Grimm is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Fordham University. He is the Director of the Varieties of Understanding Project.

Michael Menser

Dr. Menser teaches philosophy at Brooklyn College and at the Graduate School and University Center, CUNY.  He is Director of the Economic Democracy Project, and is Chair of the Board of Directors for the Participatory Budgeting Project.

David Shein

Dr. Shein is Associate Vice President and Dean of Studies at Bard College.

Lisa Warenski

Interns

Adam Louis Klein earned a B.A. in philosophy from Yale University. He is an artist, musician, and writer. You can find some of his work at adamlouisklein.com.
